As far as I know, Madness was a part of the late 70's British ska revival that emphasized racial unity. They, along with Specials, Selector and others had or collaborated extensively with black musicians. Their message was of course the very opposite of the traditional racist skinheads movement.

Yes, someone did react wrongly to your comment so I thought I'd add my thoughts to clear thing up for others who might not be able to track back to all the original comments to find who wrote what.
