That means that Microsoft had no code (or had no time to extract a code from Linux to claim as theirs). They think: Its open source, therefore, it is cot copyrighted, therefore, it is ours. Microsoft is like the pioneers that say: The land is ours!

They were wanting Microsoft to show them Linux code. It got such a big response because Microsoft is being a jerk bully, and people were standing up to them. They're making idle threats to sue companies into oblivion (most of them don't have much money), and won't tell them what they did wrong. There are a lot of people like me who want Microsoft Corporation either stopped, stopped and severely punished, or even broken into a million pieces.

no but think about it, a company that needs to pay 77.000 people who in total cost more than 30 billion, who is going to pay it if they make there OS open source, okay windows 95 and DOS, that would'nt be a big deal but, vista XP 2000 and ME, surely not they are almost the same, just the point is it destroys the marketing

Wait, It's open source and THEREFORE not copyrighted? Copyright is the basis for all free software. Without copyright, free software wouldn't exist and there would be no GPL etc. Don't confuse it with patenting. Please.
