'Clapton', his recent autobiography covers his whole career including 'Blind Faith'. He and Winwood had actually hoped for their version of 'The Band', but as it worked out, Baker's presence took them down the supergroup path especailly live, which wasn't what they intended, so Clapton was happy with the album, but didn't like the direction of the live shows. check him out on 'The Johnny Cash Show' to see where he was trying to go. hope he and Winwood record together again, originals maybe?

It's kind of funny in a way, Baker and Bruce had been playing together off and on for years already. In a way it would have made more sense for Clapton to join Traffic! Winwood cover bass on the organ in that band, and Jim Capaldi was one of the best drummers ever, a total groove player. I can totally picture Clapton with Traffic, but he may have had too many personal problems at the time. Hisrecent autobiography 'Clapton' is a great, these musicians in this era from someone at it's center.

well said, that's exactly right. clapton was just doin copious amounts of blow in '69, he said his dealer would only sell him that much coke if he bought some smack aswell...so maybe he dabbled but he wasnt a full blown junkie til the dominos recording sessions in miami. but, actually, he was pissed at ginger baker and yelled at him for being strung out during this concert

Also Eric said he wasnt happy at that preformance and that his heart was with Delaney and Bonnie. He just wanted to play with them. I would say thats the main reason Blind Faith broke up. I also dont think his guitar playing was mediocre. His guitar compliments the songs. He said that after cream he got fed up with long solo's and being all virtuoso he said its over rated. Yea, i dont think Eric became a herion addict until the Derek and the Dominoes days.
