I would argue that Lincoln's Administration fits much of the definition of a fascist state. It was centralised, highly militarised, big industry strongly supported this political movement in general as it enriched the elite t the expense of the lives of the soldiers and the liberties of all. PS The founder of the Falange argued his movement was something different from fascism and unique. After he was executed by the communists his movement was hijacked by the generals who changed it.

Consider this then: The origin of 'Fascist' as a perjorative was during the Spanish Civil War, when the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (American Communist volunteers) fought against the Falangists ("fascists").
